One reason I love visiting shops like Eve and Dave’s Sewing Center is because I never know what gems I’m going to find.
I had read and heard about Euro Pro sewing machines, but don’t recall ever seeing one until I stumbled upon the Euro Pro X Select there one day, and of course, I absolutely had to review it.
Euro Pro X Overview
Euro Pro X Select is a pleasantly equipped home sewing machine that features 30 decorative and utility stitches and a one 4 step buttonhole. The functions are mostly manual, but the learning curve on this model is low nonetheless. It has an on board thread cutter and needle threader. Tension adjustment is manual. Stitch length and width can both be adjusted and it also has reverse stitch. Euro Pro X Select’s features are simple and straightforward, making this sewing machine easy to use. It also comes in a sturdy and durable frame to help it last you a long time even with regular use.
The Euro Pro Select looks very inviting with its large, easy to read stitch selection guide and window to display the selected stitch on front.
There are two knobs on the right side. The upper knob is the hand wheel. The one in the lower position is the stitch selection dial. There is a free arm which is exposed when you remove the on board accessories case.
What are some alternatives for the Euro Pro X?
While reviewing, we figured that the Euro Pro X is rather difficult to find online. Here are some alternatives that we recommend.

Working on the Euro Pro X Select
Basic tasks like threading the Euro Pro X Select and winding the bobbin are easy enough for the beginner to master.
There is a decal just above the needle that shows you the threading process in perfect detail. Following it is so easy, no doubt a young child will be able to handle the task with ease.
I’m not a big fan of front loading bobbins on machines like this because in my opinion, they do not offer good time efficiency.
Selecting the stitches is uncomplicated as well. There are several dials on this machine. The dial on the extreme left is the tension adjustment dial.
The middle dial adjusts the stitch length and the one on the right controls the stitch width. As you look at the stitch guide on the Euro Pro X Select, you will see four different sections.
The first is the four step buttonhole. The next three are the utility and decorative stitch options, divided into sections.
To access the utility stitches, simply turn the stitch selection dial on the lower right side and the letter associated with each specific stitch will appear in the window.
To access stitches in the other two sections – on the extreme right side of the machine front panel – turn the stitch width adjustment dial to S1 or S2. The S1 stitches are in the upper diagram with the S2 options below.
The quality of the stitches leaves much to be desired. As with every other review, I sampled nearly all of the decorative and utility stitch options.
I was disappointed to discover that even after manipulating the length and width, several of the stitches simply did not come out as shown on the graphic display.
The utility stitches were passable however there was no real definition, shape or form to many of the decorative stitches.

The only accessory available with this particular Euro Pro X Select was a hard plastic cover.
An internet search for the owner’s manual was fruitless, so one can only guess that the accessories originally included with the purchase of a new Euro Pro X Select were the standard accessories one might expect to find with a sewing machine of this type:

Euro Pro X Summary
To conclude this review, the Euro Pro X Select is one of those sewing machines that looks good, but isn’t worth the effort. After wanting to review a Euro Pro for so long, the actual experience was a true let down.
It is never a good sign when you cannot find an owner’s manual – free or for sale – or a single favorable review on the internet, and that’s exactly what happened when I did a search for information on this machine.
The fact that the Euro Pro X Select is easy to thread is completely lost on the fact that the stitch quality is abysmal.
Why have a cute, lightweight easy to set up machine if you can’t get decent stitch quality? What good is a sewing machine that is incapable of doing everything it is supposed to do?
Even at a cost of less than $100, I don’t think it’s worth the money. If you have a Euro Pro X Select or if you are presented with the opportunity to acquire one, my recommendation is to use it for replacement parts and not bother trying to sew on it.

After much searching, I finally got through to Shark/Euro-Pro company and received the manual for the 8550 model in less than 5 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. I only called to see what was the difference in the 8550 and 8550H models. I was about to pay $9.95 to receive a PDF copy of the same instruction manual. The hard copy was $14.95, but instead the company sent it via email absolutely free of charge. I’m a totally beginner and hope this machine will suffice until I can purchase a better one provided my skills improve to warrant same. LOL!

I am at my wits end. I need a manual for the Shark Euro Pro X 30 stitch 412N. I looked wherever I could and no one has it not even the online manuals we have to pay for. Can anyone help me? I have the manual for my machine (Euro-Pro X Model 464XC) and no where does it mention the light bulb. Light bulb needs to be on. Doesn’t tell you how to replace it or how to get new bulb.

Re: Euro Pro X-Not happy with the stitch quality but now the bobbin thread refuses to stitch. I only get giant loops using lots of thread. Totally agree w the review. I fell into the trap of buying one when I started sewing again after a 20 year break. I bought one because it was inexpensive and appeared to have bells and whistles. TOTAL waste of money.
I have a copy of EURO – PRO Instruction Manual. The model is 762XH. I have had the machine since 2008. This is the first time I am making an attempt to use the machine. I can’t say I am happy to read about the reviews of the machine. I may end up investing in another machine and a different brand.

I was given my machine by a friend. I have the instruction booklet but it doesn’t really show clearly all the steps. I did GOOGLE search and went through different youtube sites and finally found videos from a company that repairs machines. I had to watch one video three times until I figured out how to put the bobbin pieces in and how to thread the bobbin.
