Working on the Bernette B79
For the sewing side: The user interface of the Bernette B79 is the same as that of the other Bernette models, but it has a variety of built-in automated typefaces. The Bernette freehand system comes with a software program for embroidery made by Bernina. This program is in the toolbox. I found a significant difference while sewing velvet, both when using and not using the walking foot, and got impressive results when using the pressure of the presser foot. You can stop the seam from unraveling without having to stitch backwards thanks to its automatic tie-off function.
Simply press the tie-off button located at the terminus of the seam. The threads are then cut by pressing the thread cutter button, and there it is—your seam is complete.
For the embroidery side: On the side of embroidery, there are some more wonderful features. I personally enjoy the triple add-on zig-zag stitch, as my other machines do not have one. It has a completely integrated speed control meant for embroidery. When starting embroidery at the edges of a very heavy seam, the foot starts at a specified angle in the initial position and moves forward. As the foot descends, you press the tiny button that is on the left of the foot, which locks it into position for the seam to begin. Finding that was very enjoyable. The foot also has a clever feature that lets you “lock’ the foot horizontally, which is equivalent to starting a seam to that of a hump-jumper.
Presser feet included in the Bernette B79:
- Applique embroidery foot
- Automatic buttonhole foot
- Zipper foot
- Zigzag foot
- Blindstitch foot
- Button sewing-on foot
- Free-motion Embroidery foot
- Overlocking foot
- Hopper Embroidery foot
- Metal Hoop Embroidery foot

Bernette B79 Review – Summary
Most people want a machine that can both sew and embroider, but most of these machines don’t have as many advanced features as they could. The Bernette B79, a sewing and embroidery machine, is a true rescuer that combines the best of both crafts. With its computerized design system, it makes it simple to create your own designs and also includes all the tools that you need for traditional stitching.
Like every machine, the Bernette B79 has certain drawbacks. However, its advantages are far superior. This is because the machine can perform a wide range of tasks, including embroidery, sewing, and yes, even quilting. You can embroider and sew with great delight with this feature-rich multi-combo device, and you can take advantage of all its functionalities that are available in both realms.
The Bernette B79 is a real game-changer. There isn’t a better bargain available at this price that can provide the same selection of services with excellent quality. Even though the Bernette B79 is expensive and may be out of reach for many users, I still recommend it because it has everything a modern sewing machine needs.

Bernina Bernette Funlock 004D Sewing Machine – 2025 Review
The name of this compact serger might be a bit deceiving. Actually sewing on it might be fun, but threading it is another issue altogether. I like the way it operates, but I’m not so sure about getting it ready to go to work. The threading process for this serger is one of the most challenging I’ve ever encountered.

Hello,
The Bernette 79 is 3,5 years old. Can’t we expect a new model to replace this model soon?
